School-Age Care at the YMCA of MEWSA
The Y’s Before & After School Programming helps fill a gap for working families by keeping kids safe when not in school. Through a combination of recreational and teacher-led activities, we are able to complement what kids are already learning in the classroom. School-age kids balance learning and fun while developing social skills and engaging with positive adult role models.
Kindergarten Care (5 - 6 Years)
Kindergarten programming at the Y provides children with a positive, engaging, interactive start to their formal education. The Y's curriculum provides children with the opportunity to approach academics in a hands-on and exploratory way to build and solidify a lifelong love of learning. With a focus on literacy, math, science, social studies, the arts and technology, children will build the skills necessary to prepare them for first grade and beyond. Through the curriculum and the Y;s commitment to value based learning, children in these programs become independent, self-confident, curious learners who can work well with others.

Before & After School Care (6+ Years)
At the Y, we believe that all children deserve a safe place to go after school and during the summer months to explore the arts, engage in physical activity, get help with their homework, and learn the importance of giving back to their community. Our programs for school-aged children provide youth with supervised activities that teach core values, conflict resolution and leadership skills. Kids have fun while building self-confidence appreciating teamwork, and gaining independence. Activities allow kids to create arts and crafts, explore science and technology, swim, participate in field trips, appreciate nature and better understand our many cultures. These Y programs give you peace of mind while you are at work and ensure that learning and character development continues during out of school time.
Holiday Care
Wondering what to do with your kids when school is closed but you still have to work? The Y provides care when your child’s school is closed, including most in-service days and holidays. Your child will engage in social and educational activities along with plenty of physical activity while at the Y.
